Editing videos means constantly learning something new and improving your skills. Sometimes it may be hard to choose the right software and to start quickly and effectively, but we have some tips for you here for faster editing in Adobe Premiere Pro.

We also have an article for those who aren’t yet sure which software to choose http://filewhopper.com/blog/2018/09/19/how-to-create-and-send-a-big-video-file/

1. Nesting Sequences

Much like in After Effects, nesting sequences is an easy way to apply different effects to your clip, to bridge separate sections of a project. “Nesting” is a special technique that allows you to take a sequence and paste it into another sequence so that your clip will play inside another clip. After nesting, the stack effects still remain available.

First you need to select the sequence you want to nest, then right-cliсk on it and select “Nest…” Or you can drag the selected sequence onto the “New > Sequence” button in the viewer.

2. Stacking or “Pancake-ing” Timelines

If you put multiple timelines on top of each other, it could dramatically increase the speed of all you actions. To do that, select a sequence and drag it on top of another. The most comfortable way to use this layout is having a sequence you’re currently working with on the top, however you can build your own one. You can then just go between sequences and grab clips to place in your main edit.

Right after this, drag a sequence to the source monitor, open settings and select “Open Sequence in Timeline.” Now  each sequence has a monitor window, and you can keep editing your clip in those windows.

3. Using Track and Sync Locks

It may happen that you need to edit one part of your clip and not affect the other. The best way for you in this case is to go over to the padlock on the left of your sequence and click on it. The layer will be immediately locked and no edits will be made to it.

Sync lock is what makes tracks moving in sync when there are edits made outside a track.

4. Time Remapping & Sending Large Videos Online

Time remapping is an option that allows speeding up or slowing down selected sections of your clip. This effect looks great if you need to emphasize specific moments in the video. In order to make this option really do its best, you should use high frame rate footage to make it look smooth. You just need to right click on your video’s fx badge and select Time-Remapping > Speed. As soon as you see the rubber band, you can move it up or down to adjust the speed of your video’s segments. Remember that slowing down makes your video longer and bigger, which may cause you some difficulties with sharing it. Sending large video files online can be a challenge. FileWhopper will help you transfer big files of up to 1 terabyte, so you can apply as many effects to your clip as you want.

5. Adjustment Layers

Apply effects without copying/pasting or using master clip effects directly on your video. Click the  “New Item” button in the project window and simply place the layer over everything you want the effect to be applied to. There can be multiple effects on the new adjustment layer, plus you can create different layers with different effects.

This feature is best for bulk-applying effects. If you want to try different effects or their combinations, you are free to create as many adjustment layers as you wish.
