How to Create And Add New Stickers to Telegram?

In this post, we will look into how to make and add your own Telegram stickers.

As of April 24th 2020, Telegram had over 400 million active monthly users. This makes it one of the most popular social and messenger apps out there. There are lots of features that make Telegram popular — and the app’s exciting universe of stickers may well be one of them.

In Telegram, you can have whole conversations in graphics, popular memes and movie quotes. And it’s all possible because the app lets you create your own stickers. If you haven’t yet explored the fun world of Telegram stickers, this may be the perfect time to get into the game. In this post, we will look into how to make your own Telegram stickers.

How to Create a Sticker Pack for Telegram?

The best thing about making your own stickers on Telegram is that you don’t need a developer account and there is no complicated review process to go through. In fact, creating stickers on Telegram requires just a few simple steps:

  • Design your stickers
  • Find the right Telegram sticker bot
  • Upload your Telegram stickers
  • And start using them

That’s it. Below, we will go over each of the steps in more detail.

Design Your Stickers

Another great thing about making Telegram stickers is that you don’t have to be a designer to create them. Some of Telegram’s most popular stickers are DIY meme-like creations for which even the basic design skills will suffice. However, if you are a professional designer, making Telegram stickers can be a great way to promote your work.

You have to follow several simple design requirements to create your own Telegram stickers. Here they are:

  • Telegram stickers must come as PNG files, have a transparent background and a 512x512 resolution.
  • Each sticker must be in its own separate image file.
  • The icon for your sticker pack is optional. But if you want to have one, you will need to design a 100x100 PNG image with a transparent layer.

Note that designing and uploading Telegram stickers is much easier on desktop than mobile. This is why it may be better to use Telegram for Mac, Telegram for Windows or Telegram Web when working on your sticker pack.

If you want to use movie quotes or other similar material when making your stickers, it’s important to be aware that these may be copyright infringements. If the copyright owner complains, your stickers may be taken off Telegram. However, when you first upload your sticker pack to Telegram, there seems to be no copyright check.

Average Telegram sticker packs contain from 10 to 20 stickers — but there is no actual limit to how many stickers you can upload. You will easily find packs that have over a hundred stickers. Plus, you can always come back later and add new stickers to the pack when you are ready.

Find the Right Telegram Sticker Bot

Your next step would be to find the right sticker bot to add your stickers to Telegram. You can easily do that by opening Telegram and simply typing "stickers" into the search field. Open the chat and you will see a whole list of commands you can use to manage your stickers:

  • Use /newpack to make a new Telegram sticker pack.
  • Use /addsticker to add a sticker to a pack that already exists.
  • Use /delsticker to delete a sticker from a pack.
  • Use /ordersticker to reorder stickers in a pack.
  • Use /stats to see usage stats for a specific sticker.
  • Use /top to see the top stickers in your pack.
  • Use /packstats to see usage stats for the whole sticker pack.
  • Use /packtop to view your top sticker packs.
  • Use /cancel to cancel a command you’ve just sent.

Upload Your Telegram Stickers

With the Telegram sticker bot, uploading your stickers to the app is really easy. Here's how to do it:

  • Start by typing in the /newpack command and press the Enter key.
  • You will then need to enter the name of your sticker pack.
  • Next, click the File icon to upload your first sticker. Make sure to upload it as a file and not as a photo: If you use the Camera icon, the bot will not send it.
  • The sticker bot will then ask you to assign an emoji to your sticker.
  • Select an emoji that is the best match for your sticker. Press Enter to send it. Note that you can assign several emojis, but Telegram recommends using no more than two emojis per sticker.
  • You will need to repeat the above steps for every Telegram sticker you want to send.
  • Once it’s done, enter the /publish command and send it.

If you also want to add an icon for your sticker pack, you can upload it just as you did with the rest of your sticker files. If you don’t yet have an icon, you can simply enter the /skip command — this way, the first sticker you have uploaded will be used as the icon for this pack.

  • The last step will be to send the sticker bot a short name for your sticker pack that will be used in its URL.

Use and Share Your Telegram Stickers

Unfortunately, Telegram doesn’t have a way for its users to browse all existing stickers. In many cases, this means that your sticker pack (no matter how awesome and creative) will remain undiscovered. The best way to amend this is to make your friends aware of your stickers so they can start using them as soon as possible. There are several ways to add stickers to Telegram so that they can be used by more people:

  • Share: You can send the link to your sticker pack to your Telegram contacts or a specific group of contacts.
  • Add: Once you add your sticker pack to your collection, you will be able to send individual stickers from the pack to your Telegram contacts. Your contacts can then add the pack to their own collections if they like the sticker.
  • Send: Finally, if you have created a large sticker pack that you really want to do well, you can simply send it to your friends and other telegram contacts using a file-transferring service like FileWhopper. This way, your contacts will be able to quickly add all of your stickers to their Telegram collections and start using them right away. FileWhopper does not require a long-term subscription — you will only need to make a one-time payment based on how large your sticker pack file is. Plus, your first 5GB transfer is free.

And there you have it — we hope you now know how to add new stickers to Telegram and we will soon be seeing your very own custom stickers shared on the app.
